Nowruz is this super cool day that my family and I celebrate every year, and it’s like a giant birthday party for the whole world! It’s the start of the new year for people in lots of places like Iran, Afghanistan, and even far away spots like the Black Sea and the Balkans. Imagine a day where people from all around, even places you’ve never heard of, are partying at the same time on March 20th. It’s special because it’s the first day of spring when the sun shines equally on both halves of the world, making day and night the same length!
Nowruz is super old, like more than 3,000 years old! It started with these ancient beliefs from Iran and Afghanistan, but now everyone loves to join in, no matter where they’re from. Some people still think of it as a very sacred day, but for most, it’s about having fun and feeling happy that spring is here.
On Nowruz, we do all these awesome things like dances, swapping gifts, reading poems, and even setting up special decorations. Every country has its own way of celebrating, which I think is pretty cool. It’s also a day when we get to eat cake, play with our friends, and wear party hats, just like a birthday! My family and I make it extra special by taking lots of photos and making memories that make us smile all year.
The United Nations, which is like a big club where countries talk about important stuff, even said Nowruz is so important that they have a special day for it. That makes me feel really proud and happy because the day originates from my country Afghanistan. Did you know that?
To me, Nowruz is like having a second birthday. It’s a day full of laughter, joy, and doing fun stuff with my family, which I look forward to all year long. I love Nowruz a whole bunch because it’s our special day to celebrate together. I can never forget when it’s Nowruz because it’s one of the best days ever!
